Vitamin X – “Bad Trip”

Released in 2004 through Havoc Records, Bad Trip solidified Vitamin X as an premier power in international thrashcore. Recorded with producer Igor Wouters, the album captures the band evolving their classic straight-edge sound into a much more complex, aggressive beast. They intentionally layered in blistering, 1970s rock-and-roll guitar solos and heavy thrash metal dynamics alongside their furious, hyper-speed tempos. Influenced by the chaotic energy of Jerry’s Kids and the relentless speed of D.S.-13, the record addresses heavy societal pressures, personal isolation, and political hypocrisy. By maintaining their breakneck DIY ethics while sharpening their songwriting into a tighter, punchier delivery, the Amsterdam outfit delivered a defining document of mid-2000s fastcore that flows perfectly from start to finish without a single wasted second.
