Street Trash – (self-titled)

Initially dropping as a single-sided 12-inch vinyl in 2003, the self-titled debut from Southern California’s Street Trash is a frantic, volatile explosion of regional hardcore punk. Co-released by underground staples Kapow Records and Proud To Be Idiot Records (with later European pressings handled by Kangaroo Records), this release firmly established the group’s status within the early-2000s West Coast DIY scene alongside contemporaries like Knife Fight and No Reply. Heavily influenced by the snotty, hyper-aggressive edge of 1980s American hardcore pioneers like The Freeze and Circle Jerks, the band relies on dizzying, lightning-fast tempos, sharp minor-key riffs, and a sneering vocal delivery. The short, kinetic tracks are packed with abrupt breakdowns and an unpolished, continuous momentum that avoids standard structural formulas, serving as an aggressive time capsule for the era’s regional house-show circuit.
