Public Nuisance – “Back with a swill”

Released in 2008 on CD (and widely distributed digitally in 2012) by Rodent Popsicle Records, Back with a Swill is a 21-track blast of aggressive, beer-soaked street punk from the Syracuse, New York underground veterans Public Nuisance. Known for their unyielding DIY ethos, the band balances chaotic, rapid-fire hardcore rhythms with hyper-catchy, chant-along choruses.

Stylistically, the record channels the snotty, alcohol-fueled aggression of early Quincy Punx mixed with the working-class velocity of The Unseen. Lyrically leaning heavily into themes of late-night vice, anti-establishment frustration, and survival on the fringes of society, the album jumps seamlessly from blistering, mid-tempo anthems like Cheap Sex and Booze to direct, fast-paced thrashers like Mad Swiller. It serves as a definitive, zero-filler document of Northeast street punk at its rawest.
