Lo Pan – “Salvador”

Released in 2011 through Small Stone Records, Salvador is the breakthrough third studio album from Columbus, Ohio’s stoner-rock stalwarts Lo-Pan. Produced and mixed by Benny Grotto at Mad Oak Studios, the record is widely celebrated for establishing the band’s signature dichotomy: layering intensely heavy, rhythmic sludge underneath soulful, sky-scraping clean vocals. Frontman Jeff Martin’s remarkable vocal melodies give the album an accessible, alternative-metal edge heavily reminiscent of 1990s Seattle grunge icons like Soundgarden and Screaming Trees, while the dense, thunderous riffing of guitarist Brian Fristoe channels the dusty, low-end groove of desert-rock masters like Kyuss and Fu Manchu.
