Electric Frankenstein – “Listen up Baby”

Emerging from northern New Jersey, Electric Frankenstein solidified their reputation as torchbearers of high-energy rock and roll with the release of Listen Up, Baby!. Originally engineered in 1998 as a split and a 10″ vinyl on Man’s Ruin Records, the material was later expanded into a definitive, twelve-track full-length album in 2002 by TKO Records. The release marked a crucial milestone for the band as it welcomed back original vocalist Steve Miller, whose snarl breathes life into aggressive cuts like Neurotic Pleasures and Hostage Situation, alongside a blistering cover of The Rubinoos‘ Rock N’ Roll Is Dead. The record is highly regarded for its dual-guitar interplay and a massive sonic template that pulls from the high-octane garage punk of The Stooges and The Dead Boys, mixed with the anthemic, arena-ready structures of Kiss and AC/DC.
