Canadian hardcore pioneers D.O.A. celebrated their 30th anniversary by unleashing a massive return to form with their 2008 studio album, Northern Avenger. By pairing a crisp, thunderous low-end with sharp, fast-tempo songwriting, the record effortlessly channels the primal energy of their definitive 1981 masterwork Hardcore ’81, reinforcing the precise, confrontational blueprints that originally influenced foundational generations of West Coast punk from Black Flag to Rancid.
