ANTiSEEN – Drastic / “EP Royalty”

Serving as the opening volume of the archival reissue campaign by TKO Records in 2002, Drastic / EP Royalty functions as an essential historical compilation that unearths the mid-1980s origins of ANTiSEEN. This release combines the Charlotte, North Carolina outfit’s first two exceedingly rare 7″ vinyl records: 1985’s Drastic EP (originally put out by Death Train Music) and 1986’s E.P. Royalty (originally issued via Chi Records). The collection showcases a young, unpolished lineup constructing the foundational bricks of their trademark “Destructo-Rock” style, filtering the primitive, high-octane garage punk energy of The Stooges and The Ramones through an unrefined Southern lens. Tracks such as Queen City Stomp, Destructo Rock, and the hillbilly-infused storytelling of Ruby, Ruby, Get Back To The Hills illustrate a historic moment where the band began integrating country-rock roots and blue-collar defiance into a fast, stripped-down punk template.
