Massmord / Shades of Grey

Massmord / Shades of Grey is a 2008 split full-length album shared by two Stockholm-based Swedish crust punk bands: Massmord and Shades of Grey. The album was put together as a massive international DIY label collaboration, with Profane Existence Records, Ruin Nation Records, and Contraszt! Records handling distribution. The physical 12-inch vinyl LP was pressed on standard black wax alongside a limited brown splatter variant.

Musically, the record pairs two distinct approaches to down-tuned, heavy Scandinavian crust. Side A features Massmord‘s signature style of metallic, driving d-beat, blending structural nods to Wolfbrigade with melodic elements reminiscent of From Ashes Rise. Side B serves as the first major release for Shades of Grey, who balance the split with a darker, metallic hardcore sound focused entirely on anti-capitalist and socio-political themes.
