Morning Glory – “Poets Were My Heros”

Poets Were My Heroes is the 2012 second full-length studio album from New York City punk rock band Morning Glory. Released by Fat Wreck Chords, it stands as the project’s first full-length album recorded with a complete, permanent band lineup rather than a rotating cast of studio musicians. The physical release was pressed as a double 12-inch vinyl LP, available on standard black wax alongside a limited red color variant.

The music moves beyond standard politi-kill crust templates, blending the band’s underlying anarcho-punk and ska roots with layered pianos, horn sections, organs, string arrangements, and full choirs. Fronted by Ezra Kire—known for his work in Choking Victim and Leftover Crack—the album balances anthemic, aggressive punk tempos with mid-paced, melodic arrangements and introspective songwriting.
