Holy Locust – “Fever Dream”

Fever Dream is the 2018 debut full-length studio album from New Orleans-based acoustic folk punk ensemble Holy Locust. Originally self-released on cassette and CD, the album was later picked up for a formal 12-inch vinyl LP pressing by Flail Records across several limited variants, including a hand-poured red and blue mix, random color configurations, and a purple splatter wax version.

Musically, the group bridges the gap between traditional folk instrumentation and raw punk execution, abandoning electric arrangements entirely for acoustic guitars, banjo, cello, upright bass, violin, and accordions. Holy Locust uses these multi-instrumental layerings to deliver a dark, string-driven take on anarchist folk punk, relying on intricate vocal harmonies and mournful, minor-key melodies. The physical record’s distinctive cover art features printmaking work crafted by underground artist Fiona Bearclaw.
